Norsk Teknik Museum

Sunday we spent the afternoon at the Norsk Teknik Museum. It is a science and engineering museum. There was a section that is like all science or children's museums with all kinds of interactive exhibits. Katherine was fascinated by the fish swimming on the ground. They were projected by a digital projector onto the ground. They would respond to her movement. When she was being fairly still they would swim close and when she moved it was like she scared them and they would move away quickly.

The museum had sections on lumber, oil, metal, energy, plastic, electricity, medicine, etc. In the section about metal there was an old foundry shop set up. It showed how they would use water power to run all the machines as they made cogs.

Katherine loved the transportation section. There were planes, trains, automobiles, boats, and motorcycles. Several of the models had sections cut away so you could see how it worked. Sam very carefully explained to her the workings of a steam engine. Katherine is so smart and was interested in the entire lecture.
