Presents and Cake

Nana and Pops came over for presents and cake.
One thing Katherine really wanted was a bath robe like Grammy wears. She loved the one I found.
She received a few princess barbie dolls.

And now that she has some real jewelry, she needs a real jewelry box, complete with dancing ballerina.
I love this photo where she is making her birthday wish.

5th Birthday

We started our celebration at Grammy and Grandad's house.

Grammy made a fun cake that left no doubt as to how old Katherine is now.

Somehow Caroline was the show off and I have more pictures of her.

Inside-Snow Days

While stuck inside for a week we had to get creative to keep these kids entertained. We spent a lot of time making valentines cards for school.

We made and ate 'smores on the fire.

And we used recycled supplies to make robot costumes that were good for a days worth of fun.

Snow Days

This winter there was a lot of snow and many cold, cold days. Sam was home from work for almost a week. We normally don't experience this kind of snow and city shut down. The first storm was a problem because there was freezing rain the first night and then the temperatures did not go above freezing to melt the ice for several days. We had a lot of fun as a family and playing in the snow.

Snow Angels
Icicles hanging from our Christmas lights still up in February (but not turned on)
Sledding with friend, Evan.

I have my childhood sled which worked much better than cookie sheets and laundry baskets.

Ballet Class

One of the last ballet classes of last semester had a parent show off day. There is only a recital in the spring.
We take ballet at the rec center and our teacher is awesome. This fall Caroline took a mommy and me ballet class and Katherine was able to join in. They both loved it.

Caroline and Katherine love Ms. Michelle
After joining Caroline's class, Katherine had her own class. It was for 3-4 year olds and Katherine was by far the oldest. She has moved up now to the next class.

I don't claim that she is a prima dona but Katherine does seem to have some ballet talent for a 4 year old. She is pretty graceful and really loves it.
