First week of school

Katherine had a wonderful first week of school. She LOVES kindergarten! She has such a sweet teacher and a sweet class. We are so lucky that there are only 9 students in her class with a teacher and full time aid. It is the perfect transition to big kid school.

The kids have not been able to go to the playground much because it is so HOT! They got to go out on Friday when they go to school earlier and it is not so hot.
Every day the kids get to go to centers. Katherine's favorite is red when she gets to do science, computers and home center.
We did not have time the first day of school to take pictures in front of the school's front sign. Since I graduated from this school I have many memories of climbing on this sign at lunch time. That was before all of the landscaping so I think they don't want kids climbing anymore.

School has started...

but summer is not over!

In Texas it is still well over 100 degrees every day so in the evening we have to keep cool. Our yard is dying so we decided to test out the sprinklers and let the kids play. Katherine also did a sidewalk chalk masterpiece of a robot.

Tonight we went out to wash Daddy's 1952 Ford truck to get it ready for our church's motor show this week. The girls love daddy's truck and had a lot of fun with this.

Daddy's Truck

Daddy has a 1952 Ford F-1 pick up truck. The girls love to play in it but they have not yet ridden in it (not too safe with front row carseats).

Daddy needed to wash the truck so they got to ride in it for 20 feet to back out of the garage into the driveway. They thought it was so cool!
Then it was fun to wash the truck. Spray hoses, soap, swimsuits on a hot August day. What could be better?

First Day of Kindergarten

Wow! Katherine has started kindergarten and at my Alma matter too. It is hard to believe that she is old enough to be in big kid school. This was a big year for our family, choosing what school she would attend but the plus was that when it was time to drop her off for her first day, I was excited, not sad. Sure there are some sentimental and sad moments, mainly because I will miss some of our time together and the fact that I can't believe she is in kindergarten. But, she is ready and we chose to go to a half day program so I will still get to spend a lot of time with Katherine.

I love how cute she looks in that plaid. I spent 9 years of my life wearing that same plaid (though never in the cute jumper).

The whole family went to lunch and then to the school. Caroline was the most sad of us all. She is losing her best friend and playmate. She does not really know how to play on her own as she has always had Katherine.

Katherine did not want us to come in with her and she did not want to stop to take pictures. She was ready for kindergarten. In fact, she woke up early and was ready to get dressed long before we needed to be ready. We are in the afternoon class so we had plenty of time at home.

We walked in and she was ready to lead the way to her class. She knew right where to go.
Here is her wonderful teacher. She has been teaching at TCA for 21 years and is kind of a legend. She has been compared to Mrs. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus so Katherine is very excited.
Caroline can't be left out!

She went right to her seat and started working. Her school has 5 kindergarten classes of full day and one teacher who does a morning and an afternoon class. Katherine's class is the smallest. There are 9 students, a teacher and a full time aid (who did not get captured on film somehow!).

There are 4 little girls. They played earlier this week and are going to be such sweet friends.
Poor Caroline is so sad she is not in Kindergarten.



After dropping off Katherine, Caroline and I met two other moms and the younger siblings at the mall to get to know one another and fill our time. The first few days are even shorter than normal due to people figuring out carpool. We live 30 minutes away so it does not make sense to go home.
After school we went with our good friends to Braum's for ice cream. You can tell that Katherine and Emma had a great day.
