26 months

Once again I am late getting the monthly post done. There are so many things that Katherine does that I want to remember through out the month but when it comes time to write them down, I seem at a loss for words.
Katherine, this month it seems that you have grown up more than any other single month so far. The two biggest milestones - big girl bed and big girl panties. We did not intend to move you to your big girl bed quite yet. You never try to escape from your crib. But, you got so excited when we set it up in your new room that we let you sleep there and you have done great. I really love being able to snuggle up with you in bed to read books, pray and fall asleep.
You are overall doing really well with potty training. You have your stubborn moments and I often year the phrase "I don't want to go potty" but on most days you are accident free or only one accident. Especially considering how much we are on the go or you are being taken care of by someone else at school or church I think that you are quite successful.

Along with potty training has come a lot of potty talk. You don't do it in a crass way but you will just talk about going potty all the time. Sometimes you will be in the backseat asking your feet if they need to peepee. You ask your dolls if they are dry. You sometimes will joke around by saying things like, "Katherine peepee on couch? Peepee on chair? Peepee on mommy?" and on and on and on. Of course you know the answer but you think it is so funny.

I love your sense of humor. You will often announce "That's silly mommy" or "that's funny". You are starting to make jokes too. You will purposefully say something wrong to see if we are paying attention.
You talk ALL. THE. TIME. I love it! Some of the things you say crack me up. Your vocabulary continues to amaze people. Some MDO or nursery workers say it is confusing because you are small and appear younger than you are yet your vocabulary and comprehension make you seem older than you are. Most of the time most of what you say can be understood but you get so frustrated when we don't know what you are trying to say. Your sentences are getting longer and longer and you are stringing them together into long narratives.

You do have a few speech quirks right now. A lot of your "hard K" sounds come out as a "t" and a lot of your "hard G" sounds come out as a "d". As is typical of all toddlers there are a few words that you mispronounce that are cute at this point.

Reading is still a favorite pastime. Now you will read to us. I love it when you pick up a book and tell me what it is about. You usually do a pretty good job of retelling the story. This weekend you picked up a hotel Bible (and knew that it was a Bible) and opened it up to read to Nana. You turned to the front and said, "One time, Jesus was born. Mommy is Mary, Daddy is Joseph. Playdoh, snacks." So, you went beyond the Bible story and told Nana about going to Bible Study.
A new funny thing that you are doing is using your toes to scratch your face or pull your hair. Where did that come from? You do this in the car when bored. Also in the car you now like to tell mommy to open the windows or play music.
Of course you have a stubborn streak as you are learning independence and testing your boundaries. Our biggest battle grounds are getting into the car seat and going to the bathroom when you are not in the mood to do so. Both can be so frustrating and exhausting.

We continue to enjoy you more and more. You are so excited about your baby sister coming soon. It will make life more fun and interesting.
