Arboretum

The Arboretum is our favorite place in the fall and the spring. We already have plans to go twice this week and twice next week. Our annual membership sure pays off. Today was perfect. The spring festival just started this weekend and the weather was great. It was about 75 degrees and cloudy. Somehow though Caroline got her first sunburn. It is very minor but it did not occur to me that we would need sunscreen. Bad mommy.

We met several friends out there and ran into some others so it was a lot of fun. We started off at the petting zoo, Katherine really wanted to get in with the pony but she had to stay on the other side of the fence. She grabbed a brush to try to groom the goats.
There are about 10 story book houses set up. Each one has a giant book with a short summary of the story. Katherine sat down to "read" one.
One of the friends that happened to be there was Elise. These girls are so cute together. They get really excited when they see each other at church so we really need to get together more often.
Elise is 2-3 months older than Katherine but in this picture she looks a lot bigger. Her big sister Kaila was also there. She is 5.

We ate lunch at the pecan grove where they were having a kindermusik class. It was fun. Here Jina is with the girls as they play "Ring Around the Rosie."
Before we left Katherine really wanted to have her face painted. You have to stand in line and I just knew that when it was our turn she would chicken out. In August she would not let someone paint her face. In October she would only let them do 4 little lines for whiskers. This time she wanted the full butterfly and actually sat still for the whole thing.


She was so proud and so excited about her butterfly. This was the easiest picture I got all day.
She kept returning to the mirror to look at her pretty face. It was funny because she would forget about it the rest of the day until she went to wash her hands and she would see herself in the mirror.
Robert was painted as a Tiger. Isn't he fierce?
We tried and tried to get them in a picture together. They alternated who was cooperating. Here he is trying to hold her hand. You see how well that went over.
And of course Miss Caroline was there too. She is such a cutie and did so well. She took her nap in my backpack. She is such a happy baby.
