Akershus Castle and Fortress

This post is a little delayed because we accidentally left our camera in friends car so we could not get the pictures from our latest tourist excursion.

Last Sunday we went to Akershus Castle and Fortress. It is right on the water in the center of Oslo. It was nice but I must admit that as castles in Europe go it was not that impressive.

A banquet room had pretty painted (not wallpapered) walls.

We saw the changing of the guard. Not very exciting after seeing the one in London. The fortress had a lot of green space and is actually a public park. Katherine enjoyed playing on the lawn.

There was a long row of cannons overlooking the bay. Katherine enjoying playing in, on and around them.

Here she is loading the cannon up with a pear that fell from the tree. She kept calling it an apple.

There were nice views of the bay from the fortress. Katherine liked to look at the boats.
