It was a gorgeous weekend and we decided to be spontaneous by planning our first camping trip with the kids. We decided Friday night when we were in bed that we would go the next day. So, when they were napping we packed up the car with all we needed for a quick trip and I found a campsite that was only 45 minutes away.
We stopped at Chick-fil-a for dinner. We wanted to avoid having to pack food, dishes and the stuff required to cook over a fire. We got the the campground and knew almost as soon as we got there that we would not be staying the night. The tent sites were on the point reaching out to the lake. There was a really gusty wind and the other tent that was set up was almost blowing over.
If we had been able to get the tent set up, it would have been very hard to actually sleep. So, we played on the playground (notice how hard the wind is blowing their hair). Then we ate dinner. Finally, we drove home.
When we got home we made s'mores in the fireplace.
The kids thought that it was a lot of fun and of course they were delicious.
So, even though we did not get to go on our first camping trip, we were able to make some great memories.
