Zoo

One of my best friends came in from out of town with her 2 kids and we went to the zoo. It is always a hit with the kids.

It is a lot of fun because Regina's kids Elizabeth and Zachary are almost the exact ages of my kids so they have a lot of fun.


There is a jeep where the front half is for the kids to play in, then there is a thick glass window and the back half is for the leopard to play in. You are really close!


I love that the giraffe viewing area puts you at their face level. They are so fascinating.

At the end of every zoo trip the kids hope to be rewarded with a carousel ride.

Zoo Time!

Well, the ballet teacher called at 8:15 to tell us that the 9 am class was cancelled because she was sick. It was a beautiful day so we decided to make an impromptu visit to the zoo.

As we arrived at the Zoo we saw our friends and so it was a fun treat to spend the morning with them.

The Zoo

We went to the zoo with a family that has become great friends this year. Stephanie and I met through 2 women's groups at church. Then our husbands hit it off. Then we realized our kids were close to the same age and all girls and they hit it off. Then they joined our community group. So, we see this family a lot.

It was a perfect day at the zoo, not too hot, not too many field trip kids and the animals were all ready to be seen.
Often the gorillas are hiding but 2 of them were where we could watch them for a long time.
The girls loved playing on all of the brass statues.

Caroline really wanted to hold the baby monkey.
This chimp came right up to the glass and started making all kinds of noise. It was really cool but also a little scary since it was right in our face.
The elephants are always fun to see. It is really funny because right now if you ask Caroline what sound an elephant makes she always says, "Aaaaa-chooooo" because that is what an elephant does in one of our favorite bed time books.

Zoo Day

The second day that Will's family was here we went to the zoo for dollar day. We thought it would literally be a zoo but it really was not crowded at all. All 10 of us were able to be there so it was fun.
Caroline loved watching the penguins because they were swimming so close.

When we got to the crocodile, Katherine walked right up to stick her head in its mouth. I thought it was funny since last week at another museum she refused to stick her head in the dinosaurs mouth. For some reason a crocodile is not as scary I guess.

Miss Blue Eyes

Before leaving we rode the carousel. Caroline did not like it once it started moving and so I ended up holding her.
That night we had dinner at my parents house. The kids played outside and had fun climbing on a tree that Will and I used to climb on.

Here is a rare photo where Sophia is smiling. She smiles a lot, just not for the camera.
We attempted to get a good family photo. With the exception of Caroline's finger up her nose and Ally's hands covering her face it is pretty close to perfect.
