Arbo...with Nana and Pops

Look where we are again, yes, the Arboretum. I told you it was one of our favorite destinations in the fall and spring. This week we went with Nana and Pops. They buy me the membership every year for Christmas and in return, we take them with us as much as we can.

Aquarium

While Will was at work, mom and I entertained Sophia. It was a lot of fun for Katherine to get to spend so much time with her. On Monday we went to the Aquarium. There were all kinds of animals, not just fish.

All these amazing animals and they were constantly playing with the touch screen computers.
This leopard was behind glass but you could barely tell and they were so close.

70th Birthday

My father just celebrated his 70th birthday and we had a party to celebrate with him. It just so happened the my brother and his daughter were in town the weekend after his birthday for work so it was wonderful to have them join us for the festivities. The party was mainly family and a few close friends.

The girls spent most of the time playing in the back yard while the grown ups ate dinner. They had a ball marching around.

One of their friends gave dad a bunch of silly animal glasses. Of course the kids loved them.

Easter

After church we went to my parents house to celebrate Easter.
The girls both wore beautiful smocked dresses. I was quite proud of the fact that the cost of their dresses, combined, was only $5! Katherine's dress was bought from a neighbor at a garage sale and Caroline's was handed down/borrowed from a friend. What a great deal for 2 beautiful, name brand dresses.

First we opened Easter Baskets. I am not big on candy or junk so I tried to make sure that the gifts in their baskets were useful. I also always want them to receive something spiritual. Katherine received a new Bible. We have loved our "Big Picture Story Bible" but with reading one story each day for nap and another at bed time, we go through the book twice a month. I got her the "Jesus Storybook Bible" and so far have really enjoyed it.
Caroline's favorite part of her Easter basket was her Elmo slippers. Katherine received bunny slippers.
My parents have a great yard for an egg hunt. They actually had to hunt for some of the eggs.

They were pretty yummy. We finished off the afternoon with lunch followed by naps and rest time. It was a wonderful day celebrating our risen Lord.
