Random Holiday Events

There are always a lot of photos taken over Christmas that don't seem to fit anywhere else.
I love when we set up the Fisher Price Little People Nativity scene. We actually have two so it is fun for the girls to each get to play with them. We even will have guest appearances from members of the little people zoo or castle from time to time.
Every year I take Katherine to see the Nutcracker. She loves the ballet and it is a really fun Christmas tradition. This year she started taking ballet at the school that did this production. Next year she may even get to dance in the Nutcracker. That would be so fun for her.

Another favorite tradition is to go to the Bethlehem walk through at a nearby church. This year we met a few classmates. Their teacher actually plays the piano for the program. All the kids went up front for singing. Then we walked through a few scenes telling the story of Christ's birth.
After the walk through you get to decorate cookies.

Katherine's buddy Ben was there and it was fun to get to hang out with him. Now that they are in Kindergarten at different schools we don't get to see Ben as much.
Caroline's class had a performance at preschool. She was on the front row and sang most of the songs. Poor girl though had a little boy playing with her hair for most of the show.
Every year we go on a "pajama ride" where we load up once we are ready for bed and drive around looking at Christmas lights. The kids love it.

This year we had a new elf on the shelf. Last year Josh was a bit scary for Caroline. This year he sent a letter to tell us that he needed to stay at the North Pole and that his younger and more mischievous sister Tweet Tweet would be joining us.
Josh just moved around the den but Tweet Tweet was sometimes found in the candy jar or playing with toys.
On Christmas Eve the elf gets a hug and a kiss before going back to the North Pole. This year they enjoyed the elf and again, Katherine cried when he had to leave. She grows quite attached.

Princess for a Day

While out of school over the holidays my friend, Stephanie, and I took our girls to a cute boutique that had a princess team room. The girls were able to select from a large wardrobe of princess dresses and accessories. Then they got their hair, make up and nails done before enjoying tea.

K6 Christmas party

For Christmas the parents were invited to come and spend an afternoon with our kindergarten student, seeing what they do. We got to have free center time with our child as our guide. Katherine was so proud to show me around her classroom and to teach me how to do everything.
Her favorite is the computer center. In her classroom it is up in a loft.
Katherine is showing me how to paint on the computer.

This is Katherine's buddy Max and his mom, Lauren. Lauren and I both attended TCA and were in carpool together when we were in elementary.
Talking on the phone at the home center. I don't think she needs to practice that skill!

These kids are amazing with technology. She knows how to use that smart board!

They had motions for the 12 days of Christmas.
Our gingerbread house was full of candy.

Church Christmas Pageant

This fall the girls participated in our church choir program. Katherine loved it, Caroline, not so much. At the end of the semester they did a Christmas program. There is nothing cuter than a bunch of preschoolers dressed as farm animals (Caroline is a dove) and a bunch of kindergarten angels.
